Simple laser marking tools

Types of laser marking tools
Surface marking on metals and non metals is done by means of marking tools. Marking helps to distinguish a company from another . A company logo with alphabet, number and various graphical shapes are the most commonly used marks. The tools used for suitable marking are marking stamps, blocks, punches and dies; for permanent, neat and precise marking stencil, engraving tools, stamping tools and embossing tools are used. Permanent and high definition marking on metals such as zinc and steel as well as non metals such as plastic is made possible using hand or machine marking. Certain industrial application such as cutting, marking, stamping, embossing and engraving can be done by laser marking which provide a simple and precise marking technique. Special software's are designed for computer aided marking.
laser marking is done by a complex and technical technique using lasers to engrave, etch or mark an object wherein movement of laser head is determined by computer systems. Engraving is a method of incising a mark or design with the help of engraving tools. They produce a cut or design when being pressed. As intense it penetrates as wider line it produces. Engraving tools with unique and recognizable quality marks can be differentiated based on steady, clean and deliberate form.
Computer controlled laser engraving technique gives a simple and flexible engraving.

Laser engraving

Laser engraving tools
For high speed design of characters, logos, graphics, barcode and 2D matrix marking, Laser marking machine is employed . The machine has a laser, controller and a surface. The laser beam is generated from the pencil, whose movement is controlled by the computer controller, and the surface chosen depends on the application of laser drawing. The laser beam can remove metal from a surface quite easily. The metal erosion takes place due to the intense heat developed by the beam. By programming the controller, different shapes of complex shape and design pattern can be generated and engraved. Since, the position of the pencil is known by the controller, there is no need to add barriers to the surface to prevent laser from deviating from the prescribed path. Very accurate and decorative drawings can be made easily by adding a laser table to the machine. The ability to operate in vector and raster mode brings out vey accurate printing results.
Another printing technique is the Laser marking. When this practiced on metal or alloyed surfaces, it is called as laser engraving. The technique does not involve the use of inks or any kind of tools, but a sharp laser beam is concentrated on the surface to create that design or marking. Replacement is not required as there is no ink or tool used in this method. Surfacing techniques like printing, hot branding and laser bonding comes under this. Natural materials like wood and rubber, plastics, metals, alloyed compounds, stone and glass can be subjected to this technique. With accurate speed, focusing and power of the laser beam, very excellent results can be easily achieved. Also, it finds wide applications in jewelry and fine arts.
